Nigeria’s opposition People’s Democratic Party – PDP – has called on Nigerians not to reinforce failure in the 2023 general election stating that the governing All Progressives Congress – APC – has failed in the three-pronged promises it made.
“If you have cause to vote in 2023, you will not go and bring a party that made three promises on re-engineering the economy, fighting corruption, and of fighting insurgency in the area of insecurity and five years going to six years down the line we are worse in every facet of these promises.
“Will you go and reinforce failure by voting for such a party in 2023?” Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP stated this when he appeared on ARISE News.
The country’s president Muhammadu Buhari had garnered popular votes in 2015 and emerged president on the promises of tackling insecurity and putting an end to corruption as well as reviving the economy.
Ologbondiyan said the party is worried about the level of insecurity in the country and will be discussed at the party’s NEC meeting alongside other major national issues such as the increase in pump price of petrol, the #EndSARS protest and insecurity.
“These are major issues that the party will look into and the issue of insecurity, we are worried as a party, we are very concerned as a party. So we’ll take all these issues into consideration and the various organs of the party will raise their viewpoint on the issue and the party will come out with a decision of the party.”
