Nigerian citizens living in Ukraine have been advised to remain calm and be security conscious following recent happenings and tensions generated between Ukraine and Russia.
In a statement signed by Mr Gabriel Odu of the Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Sunday, the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa has given assurances that the Nigerian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine is doing all it can for the safety and Security of all Diaspora Nigerians in that country.
NIDCOM boss also urged Nigerians in Ukraine to visit the Embassy website and follow the Registration Process.
The Nigerian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine, few days ago had cautioned Nigerians in the country and environs against unnecessary travel in Ukraine.
Presently there are ominous sign of possible attack on Ukraine by Russian forces, and this has created apprehension in the Eastern European country.
Ukraine may also likely be a battle ground between NATO and Russian forces, who seem to be reinforcing for the battle.
United States officials had also alleged that Russia has assembled about 70% of the military capability needed for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in the coming weeks.
The ground is expected to freeze and harden from mid-February, enabling Moscow to bring in more heavy equipment, according to unnamed officials.
Russia is presently said to have more than 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders but denies planning to attack.
