Read2Build has broken the Guinness World Record after reading 92 books out loud for 480 hours in the Longest Marathon Read Aloud category.
The team of five Nigerians, Maryam Abba Sadu and Zainab Wakil Mohammed from Bornu State, Doubra Yeri from Bayelsa, Preciouslight Ukachi from Imo State, Treasures-Olawunmi Bayode from Ogun State broke a decade old record of 365 hours and 39 seconds set in Dominican Republic in July, 2001.
Initiated by iRead Afrika Foundation and supported by the Lagos State Government, the event is geared towards raising N500million Naira for the first phase of this project which is targeted towards building 20 functional libraries across Nigeria especially in the rural areas where basic amenities are lacking.
