Nigerian Woman Arrested for Poisoning Four Stepchildren, Three Dead

The Yobe State Police command has apprehended a 22-year old woman, Khadija Yakubu, for allegedly poisoning four children of her husband other wife.

A statement on Friday by the Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdulkarim Dungus said finding at hand indicated that the children have been rushed to hospital after taken tea prepared by the said suspect in the early hours of Friday at about 0900hrs.

Dungus said three of the victims died while receiving treatment and one remained unconscious.

He disclosed that Alhaji Haruna who is the husband to the said suspect of reported the incident to police in Potiskum at about 1pm, Friday.

According to him, the victims of the incident are Umar Haruna, aged 12, Ahmed Haruna aged 9, Maryam Haruna, aged 11 and Zainab Haruna aged 7.

Dungus said investigation has commenced to unravel the surrounding circumstances of the case for subsequent prosecution.
