The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the final shortlist for the CAF Player of the Year award, featuring three exceptional athletes who have made significant contributions during the 2023/2024 season.
The Nigerian footballers Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface have been shortlisted by the sport’s governing body, with Moroccan player Brahim Diaz completing the final three-man list.
Lookman of Atalanta, had an outstanding season, playing a crucial role in the team’s UEFA Europa League triumph and earning the title of the club’s Player of the Year. Meanwhile, Boniface from Leverkusen was pivotal in his club’s success, contributing to victories in the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup, as well as making significant contributions to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.
Similarly, Real Madrid’s playmaker Brahim Diaz was instrumental in securing multiple titles, including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup, demonstrating his significant impact on both club and country. These players have been recognised for their exceptional performances, making them top contenders for Africa’s most prestigious football award.
The winner will be announced at the upcoming ceremony in Marrakesh.
