The Nigerian presidency has given reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari failed to attend the burial of the late Chief of Army staff Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru on Saturday.
According to presidential spokesman Garba Shehu, Mr Buhari stayed away from the burial to avoid innocent Nigerians being molested by security agencies to allow the president have his right of way.
He stated this on Tuesday when he appeared on an ARISE News programme, Newsnight. He noted that the president didn’t want the highways closed and attention taken away from the “mourning situation”.
