The National Youth Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Israel, on Wednesday rebranded the premises of the party headquarters in Abuja to temporarily accommodate a viewing centre for an after-victory merriment after Nigeria’s Super Eagles clash against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Thr national chairman of APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, is expected to be part of the merriment after the match.
Already, the APC car park has been emptied to give way to green carpets, plastic chairs, executive white cushion seats and a giant viewing screen.
At the back of the party building were a goat and a white cow painted in green-white-green and the APC emblem.
However, the two animals have been slaughtered for after match feast.
The Super Eagles, which has tagged AFCON tournament favourite, is billed to face South Africa in a highly anticipated semi-final clash at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Ivory Coast, by 6.00 pm local time.
The team has been in fine form at the tourney, racking up four victories in five matches, including a 1-0 win against Ivory Coast, a 2-0 win against Cameroon and a narrow 1-0 win against Angola in the quarter final.
An elated Israel took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to announce that an after-viewing party will be held at the APC national secretariat with a red carpet show from 4.00 pm on Wednesday.
He tweeted, “Join us at the special #AFCON2024 Semi-Final Match Watch Party organized by @apcngyouthwing on Wednesday 7th February. Everyone is invited and it’s free entry/open to all Nigerians, especially the Youth.
“Let’s support our own team irrespective of our party or political divide. Red Carpet is 4pm and the live Match is 6 pm at APC National Secretariat, Wuse, Abuja. Lots of Drinks, Asun and Suya for everyone. God bless our Super Eagles. #CommunityActionThroughSport #APCCATS.”
Similarly, a viral clip of the APC youth leader has been trending on social media where he was seen displaying the cow they planned to use for barbecue after the match.
“The cow and the goat for the after-viewing party for the AFCON semi-final match is live here at the APC secretariat. We just brought them here now. So we are going to be having our viewing centre in this whole place by the grace of God on Wednesday to support the Super Eagles.
“You are welcome the AFCON semi-final viewing centre organised by the national youth leader for the APC youth wing and all our members who are based in Abuja. So show up here on Wednesday, there is going to be a live viewing screen, live DJ and, of course, lots of Asun (barbecue),” Israel stated.
