Nigeria’s Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has decorated the newly appointed police boss Usman Baba with the rank of Inspector General of Police.
Mr Osinbajo performed the ceremony on Wednesday at the presidential villa.
Baba officially takes over from Mohammed Adamu in acting capacity until his appointment is confirmed by the senate.
His appointment was announced on Tuesday, two months after Mohammad Adamu’s tenure expired.
Baba, the new police chief comes into office amidst rising security concerns and the recent attacks on police commands across some states, the most recent in southeastern Imo state.
