Gunmen have reportedly attacked a police checkpoint in Enugu State killing three officers on duty.
Reports suggest the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday in the Gariki area of Enugu South Local Government Area.
A source while speaking with our correspondent says the attack has given rise to palpable tension in the area as residents scampered for safety.
It is yet to be confirmed whether the hoodlums attacked the MTD police station which is very close to the checkpoint.
Daniel Ndukwe, the Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer could not be reached for a reaction as he failed to respond to calls and a text message sent to him.
