National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus has complied with the latest court ruling restraining him from resuming as the chairman of the party.
In his stead, Yemi Akinwonmi, on Saturday resumed as the acting national chairman of the party and presided over a meeting of the national executive committee (NEC) at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
Mr Secondus in a short statement asked Akinwonmi to preside over the meeting following the ruling of a high court in Cross River state.
“I hereby request you to preside over the National Executive Committee meeting of the Party, taking place today, 28th August, 2021@ 12 noon, in my absence,” Secondus said in a statement on Saturday.
Those attending the NEC meeting include a former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former secretary to the government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, PDP governors, former and current lawmakers, among others.
