Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Ishaq Salako has told Nigerians to expect environmental sustainability, noting that the present administration is interested in preserving the environment for present and future generations of Nigerians.
Salako gave the promise on Monday, shortly after he assumed duty as the Minister of State for the Environment on in Abuja, following the inauguration of 45 Ministers by President Bola Tinubu.
The Minister of State ,who said that environment was key in human nature and existence, emphasised on the need to ensure environmental sustainability.
He said: “Our responsibility is to ensure that we use the environment sustainably,” while noting that environmental sustainability is the deliberate act of preserving the environment for present and future generations.
He promised to work with the staff of the Environment Ministry, all stakeholders and the media as a team to ensure that the environment is a social responsibility for all.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ibrahim Yusufu told the Minister of State: “We will work assiduously with you so that the dividends of democracy promised Nigerian by this administration will be realised particularly as it concerns the environment.”
