Violence has erupted in the Berger area of the Nigerian capital Abuja where reports suggest pro-SARS thugs have attacked peaceful #EndSWAT protesters.
Nigerians have taken to Twitter and are accusing the government of hiring thugs to attack protesters in the nation’s capital after their plans to compromise the protest failed.
The youths have continued to take to the streets to protest over cases of assault, brutality, extortion, and killings of peaceful protesters by officers of the Nigerian Police Force, and comes despite the ban on the Special Anti-robbery Squad.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu had on Tuesday announced a new outfit known as Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) to take over from the disbanded unit, and said prospective officers of the new unit will undergo tactical training next week.
Convener of Concerned Nigerians Group and activist Deji Adeyanju took to twitter and accused the government of hiring thugs to disrupt the protest.
