Security operatives have thwarted a potential catastrophe after apprehending a man armed with a Person Borne Improvised Explosive Device (PBIED) inside a bank in Plateau state, Nigeria.
A counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, said the incident took place in Dadin Kowa town within the Jos South Local Government Area of the state on May 13.
Sources indicate that the individual intended to detonate the explosives within the bank premises but was spotted by a vigilant operative, prompting swift action to prevent the attack.
Following his apprehension, an enraged mob gathered around the suspect, demanding for him to be killed immediately.
In the meantime, it is unconfirmed if the suspect is affiliated with the fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The suspect is currently in police custody and undergoing investigation, as reported by Makama.
