There appears to be more trouble for the embattled national chairman of Nigeria’s opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus as the executive committee of the party’s ward 5 in Ikuru, Andoni local government area of Rivers state, has suspended Mr Secondus.
The decision to suspend Secondus was reached at a meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Ikuru.
The Chairman of the ward, George Christopher said 11 of the 17 executive members approved the suspension of Secondus from the ward chapter of the party.
“The ward executive of the Peoples Democratic Party in ward 5, Ikuru town, and the leaders met on the 31st of August, 2021 issues that affect the party,” Christopher said.
“Suspension of Prince Uche Secondus was done by the ward executive after a duly constituted ward meeting called by the secretary on the instructions of the chairman, according to the constitution of our great party.”
Secondus’ troubles started when calls for his resignation intensified within the party. The calls were followed by orders from high courts in Rivers and Cross River states restraining him from parading himself as the national chairman of the PDP.
