The Senator representing Enugu East, Chimaroke Nnamani has described Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu State as well qualified to be Nigeria’s president in 2023.
Nnamani’s stance comes amidst calls for the next president of Nigeria to come from the southeastern part of the country. A former two-term Governor of Enugu State, Nnamani said this on Friday when he featured on an ARISE News programme, noting that the time to restructure the Nigerian state has come.
“That Ebeano political family which I belong is headed by our Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and in the Ebeano family, we have a way of doing things. I believe that my leader the Governor who is well qualified to become President and the Ebeano family will address that issue,” Nnamani said.
“The idea that the time has come is the restructuring of the Nigerian state, devolution of powers, physical and fiscal federalism. Where the Igbos will come to the table with the same potential as the Yorubas and the Hausa/Fulani.”
