Nigeria Decides: Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle Loses Re-Election Bid to PDP’s Dauda Lawal

The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara state Alhaji Dauda Lawal has defeated governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in last Saturday’s poll.

The returning officer for the election Professor Kasimu Shehu said Lawal scored 377,726 votes to defeat governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle who polled 311, 976 votes.

Matawalle is the first of 11 governors in the 2023 poll to fail in getting second term in office.

 Nine governors have been re-elected while the election in Adamawa State between incumbent Ahmadu Fintiri and APC’s Aisha Binani has been declared inconclusive.
