Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni on Thursday received Governor Ayade into the party.
This was disclosed in a short statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director-general, Press and Media to Yobe Governor.
“Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today received Cross River state Governor Dr. Ben Ayade who joined the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement read.
Reports suggest that some APC governors had on Wednesday arrived in Calabar, the Cross-River state capital to persuade Governor Ayade to dump the PDP. Mr Buni had led the delegation.
Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi had in November 2020, defected from the PDP to the APC. He had cited injustice suffered by the South-East geopolitical zone as the reason for his defection.
