The chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Abubakar Abdullahi, has been killed by gunmen.
Ibrahim Bayero, spokesman of the chapter’s association confirmed the incident in a telephone interview on Friday in Kaduna.
He said the assailants invaded the Abdullahi’s house in Lere, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna state in the incident early hours of Friday.
According to him, the bandits, demanded for N20 million from the deceased who told them that he doesn’t have that kind of money.
Bayero said the gunmen took the MACBAN chairman round to butchers to raise some money and he was able to raise N250, 000.
He said after they collected the money, they took him to the highway and killed him and dumped his corpse by the roadside.
Bayero added that the distardly act may have been committed by hired assassins.
“Yes, our chairman was killed in the early hours of today. He was killed at his residence in Lere town, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
“They came and picked in I his house. They demanded for N20 million, he told them that he doesn’t have it.
“They took him round to butchers to borrow money and give them.
He raised up to N250,000 and gave them. They collected the money and took him to the Saminaka- Marere – Zango highway.
“They killed him and left his corpse by the road. It is very bad.
“That area has been very peaceful. There is nothing of these killings in Lere. We are suspecting that hired assassins killed him,” Bayero said.
Mohammad Jalige, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command could not be reached, as his mobile telephone was not connecting.
