Governor of Nigeria’s southeastern Anambra state, Willie Obiano says nine suspects have been arrested over the attack on a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo.
Mr Obiano on Wednesday assured the people if the state that other suspects will be apprehended.
“What happened last month is unfortunate. But let me tell you, we have re-strategised and we are coming out like a smoking gun,” Obiano said at the Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka the state capital.
“We are not going to take prisoners. The nine people that attacked professor Soludo are in our net now. We will go after the others.
“We are not going to take prisoners any longer. A special squad has already been put together, and they are already working everywhere.”
In March, armed men attacked Mr Soludo while he was delivering a lecture to youths in Aguata local government area of the state.
Three police officers providing security for him were killed in the attack, while Emeka Ezenwanne, commissioner for public utilities, was abducted.
Mr Ezenwanne was later released after four days in custody.
Mr Soludo in February announced his intention to contest in the November 6 Anambra governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
