Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has said amnesty for bandits who he tagged herdsmen should include rehabilitation and provision of social amenities by the Nigerian government.

Gumi said this on Wednesday when he featured on ARISE NEWS’ Morning Show.

The bandits have been responsible for crimes including murder, rape and the kidnapping of schoolchildren across northern Nigeria.

Gumi who is widely accused of sympathising with terrorists, called for amnesty for the herdsmen who he says are ready to give up their arms of their demands are met.

He noted that herdsmen in across regions of the country are lynched, killed and their children are sometimes decapitated.

According to him, governments’ at all level levels and well-meaning Nigerians should remain neutral to bring lasting peace to the issues of banditry and herdsmen attack.
