The Niger Republic has been suspended by the African Union, from participating in all AU activities until ousted President Mohamed Bazoum assumes control.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, AU reportedly announced the suspension and reiterated calls for the military junta to free Bazoum and go back to the barracks.
The AU further urged its member nations and the global community to forgo any actions that can be seen as endorsing the junta.
The organization further stated that it vehemently opposes any involvement by anyone or any nation outside of Africa.
In an effort to bring Niger’s constitutional democracy back, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has already announced the deployment of a standby force.
