Abel Ejikeme

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved seven hundred and forty-five million Naira to engage eight more field forensic auditors to probe activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This latest addition now brings the total number of field auditors to sixteen, in addition to the lead auditor, Olumuyiwa Bashir & Co approved a few months ago.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, told journalists after the weekly FEC meeting that the auditors will now be in charge of the nine states of the Niger Delta which have been divided into sixteen lots

“As I said earlier, lot one is Ernst & Young for the headquarters, they will be undertaking the nineteen years of audit and also bring out the organogram for the restructuring of the NDDC for better performance in future.
“Council also considered and approved the need to attach investigative security agencies to each of the teams to ensure transparency and also to ensure whatever comes out of is acceptable to not just Nigerians, but the international community,” Akpabio said.
