The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been sworn in as the Senator representing Kogi Central.
During Thursday’s plenary, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, supervised the oath of office administered to Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The oath was administered to the new senator by the Senate Clerk, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze.
After that, she shook hands with the Senate President, who gave her a copy of the Senate Standing Rules.
The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, located in Lokoja, had ruled earlier in September that Akpoti-Uduaghan had won the February senatorial election, overturning Senator Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress’ triumph. However, Ohere headed to the Appeal Court to overturn the judgement.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Monday, then dismissed Senator Abubakar Ohere’s petition , stating that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the People’s Democratic Party was the legitimate winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election on February 25, this year, dismissing Ohere’s appeal for lacking merit.
