Naira Marley Detained By Police Over Mohbad’s Death

The Lagos State Police have taken into custody Afrobeats rapper, Naira Marley, over the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

This was revealed in a tweet made by the Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Naira Marley is expected to assist the police in their investigation into the demise of MohBad.

The tweet reads, “Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities”.

Recall the singer had vowed to return to Nigeria to clear his name and help the probe into his former signee’s demise.

“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Marley first spoke about Mohbad’s death on September 15. He mourned his former signee while calling for an investigation into his demise.

The singer added he would honour the police invitation and fully cooperate with the investigation, insisting that “I have no hand in Mohbad’s death” and “certainly have no reason to be a fugitive”.

Naira Marley also claimed Mohbad battled with mental issues before his death.

He said he tried to seek help for Mohbad after learning about the late singer’s “mental health issues” from an associate.
