Ukrainian authorities have reported blasts in the country’s northeastern, southern and western regions on Thursday morning, during a fresh wave of Russian missile strikes which Kyiv said damaged its power grid facilities.
In the city of Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekho informed the public via the messaging app Telegram about the unsettling sounds of explosions echoing through the streets.
Similarly, Governor Ivan Fedorov, also utilising Telegram, relayed information about blasts occurring in the Zaporizhzhia region, further amplifying concerns about the extent of the attacks.
In the western Lviv region, Governor Maksim Kozytskyi provided reassurance through the same platform, stating that air defenses were actively engaged in protecting the area from incoming threats. Despite the chaos, efforts to safeguard the population remained steadfast.
Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, utilizing the messaging app Telegram as well, disclosed that the assaults specifically targeted power generation and distribution facilities across several regions, including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and the capital city of Kyiv.
The deliberate targeting of critical infrastructure highlighted the strategic nature of the attacks, aimed at disrupting essential services and further destabilizing the country.
