Morocco’s population has risen to 36.82 million as of September 2024, marking an 8.8% increase since the last census in 2014, according to preliminary national census results released by government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas on Thursday.
The census showed significant growth in the number of households, reaching 9.27 million, a 26.8% increase over the past decade. Meanwhile, the foreign resident population in Morocco grew sharply, increasing by 71.8% to 148,152.
These figures reflect Morocco’s evolving demographics and highlight shifts that may impact housing, social services, and economic policies in the years ahead. The government is expected to use these insights to inform future planning and development initiatives.
