In recent weeks, Abudu has announced exciting partnerships with international production companies including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios, Sony and Netflix.

In 2020, EbonyLife also signed a deal with AMC Networks to produce futuristic show “Nigeria 2099.”

These landmark deals, Abudu admits, “have never been done before” but she says it is “important to give our continent a voice.”

“The thing is, we’ve been quiet forever. Nobody really knows who we are,” Abudu told ARISE News, adding that her work sought to demolish the negative stereotypes of famine, disease, death and destruction that foreign audiences had about Africa.

“We can’t leave the storytelling to others around us, it’s important for us to get involved in it…we need to start shedding light on who we are,” she said.

“We must get in the room. Our stories are important; they must be told.”
