Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu has advanced into the Final of the women’s freestyle wrestling event at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is guaranteed either a silver or gold medal at the games.
The Bayelsa born wrestler seamlessly floored Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold 7-2 in the semi-finals of the women’s 68kg freestyle.
She had defeated Azerbaijani’s Elis Manolova and Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan to advance to her first Olympic semi-finals, before defeating Soronzonbold.
She will now compete in the Gold medal match on Tuesday against America’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock and becomes the first Nigerian to ever reach the final of a wrestling event in the Olympics.
