Sonny Iroche, chairman Strategic Alliance Promotion Company and former executive director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says the Manitoba management contract aimed at resolving electricity challenges in the country pulled Nigeria’s power sector back by four years.

Iroche described the Manitoba contract as a weird one that shouldn’t have taken place in the first instance.

He stated this on Thursday when he featured as a guest on ARISE News’ Morning Show.

Iroche’s remarks followed those of Tony Elumelu, the Group Chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), who told ARISE News on Wednesday that the TCN should be privatised.

The UBA Chairman also called on generating and distributing companies as well as stakeholders in Nigeria’s power sector to agree on a deal with the federal government.
