Man United Stay Top After 0-0 Draw With Liverpool

Manchester United remain three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table after the two sides shared a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday.

Allison Becker made two big saves from Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba as United went for the win late on, but a draw was a fair result on the balance of play on Merseyside.

United sat back and looked to counter in a cagey first half with little in the way of chances for either side.

With this game being more of a must-not-lose than a must-win for Jurgen Klop and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was no surprise to see the visitors sit deep to soak up the pressure from the hosts.

The derby – usually a fiery contest – was short of the battles which usually break out across the pitch, with the lack of fans keenly felt as both sides struggled to get going.

The game opened up after the break as David de Gea had to parry away a Thiago Alcantara drive, but United wasted the best two chances of the match.

Alisson saved smartly from Fernandes after the Portuguese met a Luke Shaw cross, while Pogba blasted straight at the Liverpool keeper when well placed in the box.

The draw leaves Liverpool three points behind League leaders United, while the Red Devils extended their advantage over second-placed Leicester to two points.
