Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski was attacked at Bayern Munich’s General Assembly this week.
At the Bayern assembly, an uproar was mounted around the farewell of the Polish striker after the intervention of the fans’ representative, Dieter Marx, who rallied harshly against the current Barça man.
According to TVP Sport, Marx described Lewandowski as “a man without character” and asked that no public recognition be made to him.
“You should not leave a club like that. You shouldn’t give him a farewell game at the end of his career. He shouldn’t be in the hall of fame either.”
The words of the representative were not echoed by the rest of those present in the room, who booed him. In an assembly that lasted five hours and Herbert Hainer was ratified as president, the majority of the public was against the attack.
Even the club’s general manager, Oliver Kahn, who was very tough in the negotiation, came to Lewandowski’s defense: “You can understand that Robert at the age of 34 would like to change something in his life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a fantastic player who was a machine at Bayern. I thank him for his great achievements and everything he has done for the club.”
