The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2024 African Player of the Year awards will take place in December.
In a post on X on Thursday, CAF announced that the award ceremony is scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
“It’s this time of the year again. #CAFAwards2024. December 16. Marrakech, Morocco. Mark your calendars,” the post read.
While the venue and exact time of the event remain undisclosed, this will be the third consecutive year that Morocco has hosted the prestigious awards.
Super Eagles stars William Troost-Ekong, Ademola Lookman, and eight others are in contention for the Men’s Player of the Year award, following standout performances for their clubs and national teams.
Stanley Nwabali has been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, while Nigeria is also competing for National Team of the Year, alongside Ivory Coast, Morocco, South Africa, and six other nations.
The CAF Awards, which began in 1992, annually honour the best African football talents. Victor Osimhen won the 2023 edition, while Nigerian football icon Asisat Oshoala holds the title in the Women’s category following her remarkable year on the field.
