Lagos Urges Residents to Prioritise Safety Amid Dry Season Risks

The Lagos State Safety Commission has issued a safety alert to residents, urging heightened caution as the year draws to a close, citing the risks posed by the current dry and hot weather conditions.

In an address to journalists over the weekend, Director General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, highlighted the importance of safety, emphasising that the wellbeing of Lagosians should remain paramount.

“Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We can only hope for the best,” Mr. Mojola stated, stressing the need to safeguard lives.

The Director General warned that the prevailing weather conditions, characterised by excessive heat, could result in health challenges such as dehydration, blurred vision, tiredness, and high fever. He advised Lagosians to take necessary precautions to avoid these risks.

Mr. Mojola also raised concerns about the increased likelihood of fire incidents during the dry season, urging residents to avoid practices that could endanger lives.

“Do not smoke in public places or store flammable substances such as fuel at home, stalls, or shops,” he warned, noting that such actions could lead to potentially fatal fire outbreaks.

He appealed to the public to work with the government to maintain safety across homes, workplaces, and the community at large.

For further guidance, residents are encouraged to visit the Safety Commission’s website at www.lasgsafetyreg.com, where additional safety tips are available.
