The Labour Party 2023 Guber candidate for Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, stands his ground on his accusations against governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu citing the misappropriation of 200 million Naira from the state treasury to settle pre-election matters, and is calling for the resignation of the governor.
Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso stated that no such action was taken and claims by the opposition party are false, also claiming that some of the figures were errors.
In a Morning Show interview on Saturday, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour popularly identified as GRV, stated that the governor and his assembly were misleading citizens of the state assuring that he was in custody of evidence which was explicitly put in the Lagos Procurement Budget for 2023.
He also accused the agency of making adjustments to the numbers in an attempt to cover up.
“They are lying to that people and this is the problem. But the evidence is right there on the site. It’s crystal clear.
“It points to the brazen way that they established that the state treasury is linked to thier accounts and there will be no consequence. That’s why they will brazenly put this up there, without expecting any consequence of it at that. It’s something we the people should address.
“I focused on discrepancies in the use of public funds that are impeachable. Monies spent on the decoration of campaign offices and the welfare of party delegates as well as the governor’s legal fees.”
The former governorship candidate pointed out that he was an advocate for transparency in governance and though there was a need to spend money on development of national monuments and the likes, the focus should not be taken off the misappropriation of funds on personal and party related issues.
“If people want to be stealing from the commonwealth and do what is not in the interest of the people of Lagos, we cannot normalize it.”
Gbadebo pointed out that governor Sanwo Olu has gone over his oath of office and made it known that if he does not do the needful which involves his resignation, the matter will be put into the hands of the state assembly to review the situation and begin an impeachment process.
He also called for the mobilization of citizens to demand for a higher standard of governance.

Says the same loser who instigated the case in the first instance. You're the reason for the state expending that sum if it is true. Should the governor have gone to borrow from banks to defend the case? Since the winner had already occupied the position as the governor of the state, any case against that position is one against the state itself whether it is pre or post election.
