Lagos PDP Chairman Philip Aivoji Regains Freedom From Kidnappers After 4 Days

The Lagos party spokesperson however did not state if a ransom was paid to secure the chairman’s release.

The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos, Philip Aivoji has regained his freedom after spending four days in the den of the kidnappers.

Aivoji and some members of the party were kidnapped along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from a meeting organized by Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke, governors of Oyo and Osun states respectively on Thursday.

In a statement, the Lagos party spokesperson, Hakeem Amode confirmed his release in the early hours of Monday.

“Lagos State PDP Chairman released by the kidnappers. Hon Philip Olabode Aivoji, the Lagos State PDP Chairman, is free at last after 4 days in the kidnappers’ den.

“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers most importantly because God’s mercies were visible all the way.”

Amode however, did not state whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the Lagos PDP chairman.

The Ogun police command had earlier disclosed on Saturday, that a 37-year-old woman, identified as Bilikisu Kazeem, died from a bullet wound sustained during a gun fight between the police and Aivoji’s kidnappers on the expressway.
