Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, have blocked off the entrance of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in a protest on Thursday.
In order to execute their order to members employed in the aviation industry to halt all flights to Owerri, the capital of Imo state, organized labor assembled at the airport at 8:58 a.m.
According to reports, the protest is part of a series of actions that the organized labour had said they will zero in on Imo state, following the attack on the NLC President, Mister Joe Ajaero.
The protesters attempted to go into the airport, but were stopped by the military at the checkpoint and as a result of the refusal, the protesters blocked the entry and exit point of the airport, causing heavy traffic of vehicles on both sides thereby forcing travellers to make their way into the airport on foot.
The both entry and exit ways of the airport were blocked by the protesters.
On Tuesday, the NLC and TUC had declared a nationwide strike which is to commence on Tuesday, November 14th, also due to the face-off with the Imo State Government.
