Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, on Friday’s Morning Show discussed Nigeria’s state of affairs, stating that the value of democracy has completely depleted in the country.
He further explained that injustice will persist in Nigeria because the democratic title embodied by the nation is a mere façade as it has not been exemplified in the actions of the leaders.
According to Bishop Kukah “injustice persists and will continue in Nigeria because we are just pretending to be in a democracy.
“This is the only country where you can kill fifty people, sixty people, a hundred people, nobody cares. So really, you can see, we are going to encourage our people to vote but many Nigerians are legitimately entitled to ask, vote for what and vote for who?”
Kukah emphasized the need for a rise in governance that is determined to ensure justice becomes a pillar on which the nation can stand.
“There will be no need to have a government if justice were not at the center of it all.This is why we continue to confront these bastions of injustice because until there is justice for everyone there cannot be justice for anyone.”
