The Bank of England announced on Monday that auctions of King Charles III banknotes with low serial numbers has raised a staggering £914,127 ($1.17 million) for charity.
The funds would be distributed among 10 charities, including the Bank of England’s three ‘charities of the year’, supporting causes such as mental and physical health, poverty, hunger, environment, and animal welfare.
The auctions, which took place over the summer, featured £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes with unique serial numbers.
A record-breaking £26,000 was achieved for a £50 sheet, while a single £10 note with the serial number HB01 00002 sold for £17,000.
