Kim Jong Un Moves to Cut Off South Korea, Prepares to Demolish Inter-Korean Roads

South Korea reported on Monday that it has observed indications that North Korea is preparing to demolish unused sections of inter-Korean roads, amidst escalating tensions between the two nations.

This potential destruction aligns with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s strategy to sever ties with South Korea, officially designate it as the nation’s primary adversary, and abandon the long-standing goal of peaceful Korean unification.

According to South Korea’s military, various activities in North Korea suggest preparations for road demolitions, including the installation of screens.

Lee Sung Joon, spokesperson of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated, “They have installed screens on the road and are working behind those screens, preparing to blow up the roads.”

Joon stated that the South Korean military is concerned that the North may also attempt to launch a space rocket, a capability that the United Nations considers to be a prohibited demonstration of long-range missile technology.

The development comes in the wake of North Korea’s recent accusations that South Korea has launched drones to deliver propaganda literature over Pyongyang three times this month. North Korea has threatened to respond with force if the incident occurs again. South Korea has declined to confirm whether it sent drones, but it has issued a warning that it will impose severe penalties on North Korea if the safety of its citizens is jeopardised.
