Keyamo Hosts Ade-John As Nigeria’s Aviation, Tourism Sectors Join Forces For Economic Growth

In a significant move to strengthen inter-ministerial collaboration, the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, paid a strategic visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja on Friday, June 21st, 2024.

According to a statement by Tunde Moshood, the SA Media and Communications to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the primary focus of the visit was to discuss strategies aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business and leveraging the economic benefits inherent in both ministries.

During the meeting, Mrs. Ade-John emphasised the critical role that seamless collaboration between the tourism and aviation sectors plays in boosting Nigeria’s economic growth.

“Tourism is a vital contributor to our national economy, and its success is intricately linked to the efficiency and reliability of our aviation services. By working together, we can create a more conducive environment for tourists and investors alike,” she stated.

The Aviation Minister echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of a robust aviation sector in facilitating tourism and trade.

“The aviation industry is a gateway to our nation, and its development is crucial for attracting international visitors and business. Through coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Tourism, we can enhance our infrastructure, streamline processes, and provide a world-class experience for all who travel to and within Nigeria,” he remarked.

The discussions covered a range of topics, including improving airport facilities, enhancing safety and security measures, simplifying visa and travel procedures, and promoting Nigeria as a premier tourist destination.

Both ministers acknowledged the need for a strategic framework that aligns the objectives of their respective ministries to achieve these goals.

This collaboration aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and improve the efficiency of services related to tourism and aviation, enhance the economic contribution of both sectors by attracting more tourists and business travelers, jointly market Nigeria globally as an attractive destination for tourism and investment and to develop and upgrade facilities to meet international standards and provide a seamless travel experience.
