Kano Police Arrest 22 Armed Robbers, Declare 30 Wanted

Kano State Police Command has arrested n 22 armed robbers and declared 30 wanted, in connection with the recent attack on the innocent indigents of Dorayi Quarters Gwale Local Government area of Kano state.

The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel who disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting with residents of the area on Thursday, explained that the 22 persons in custody have helped to identify other 30 persons whom the command is inviting over to surrender themselves or be arrested.

According to him, “We carried out an investigation and we discovered they are armed thugs. And we have arrested 22 in connection with the uproar.

“They are in the custody of the Criminal Intelligence Department, CID where they are undergoing discreet investigation. They have so far identified 30 other persons in connection to the attack.”

“Let me warn that anybody who attempted to come forward to seek bail for the arrested persons should also be arrested.

“Let me assure you that this will be the end of the activities of these thugs. That people should go about with their normal activities and worshipers should come out to perform the prayers as we are ready to embark on patrols and provide adequate security,” he stated.

“As regards the call for the establishment of the anti-daba division, I have already deployed personnel to be posted to the area to man the anti-daba and anti-robbery division,” CP Gumel stated.

The Police Commissioner, however, warned that anybody or parents who attempted to come forward for bail of the arrested person would be arrested while calling on the residents to instead help them with relevant information that would lead to the arrest of the remaining thugs.

Gumel also debunked a video going viral of a young boy who was seen stabbed in his stomach with a knife, saying it was untrue and not in Dorayi nor was it in Kano.

Earlier, various community leaders who took turns to address the gathering appealed to the Commissioner of Police on the need to establish an anti-daba division in the area.
