Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has handed over the 76 pardoned minors to their family members after undergoing various medical check-ups at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in the state.
The 71 youth were accused of having participated in the looting of properties during the last #EndBadGovernance protest on the 1st of last August.
The governor who was represented by his chief of staff Alhaji Wada Sagagi urged the youth to be good Ambassadors and always respect rule of law.
He also urged them to be law abiding and shun all acts of unlawful protest in the future, as the state government concluded arrangements to sponsor their education to the higher level.
He further explained that the State Government has directed the Ministry of Education to ensure adequate follow-up on the reformed minors in order to achieve the set objectives.
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Malam Nura Muhammad commended the Kano State Government for taking the responsibility of the 71 youth up to the time of their release.
Earlier the Chief of Field Office UNICEF, Mr Michael Banda UNICEF said the Release and Reunification of the Kano 76 Children and Young People from Post Detention Interim Care was a great development.
