The political comedy in Kano State took an interesting dimension on Tuesday with stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) calling on security agencies to arrest the persons behind the purported suspension of the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
They warned that if the perpetrators are not tamed on time, in a short while, some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) or Labour Party may constitute themselves and suspend President Bola Tinubu from the APC.
The Convener of the Concerned APC Members (CAM), Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi at a News conference in Abuja said it is very important and crucial to as a party said “our home has been invaded.”
He said, “It is with rude shock, we received the news of the suspension of the APC National Chairman of our party, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje by some members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who disguised as members of our great party from Ganduje Ward of Kano State.
“The impostors even went far in using the name of our party’s legal adviser in Ganduje ward to announce the purported suspension of our workaholic National Chairman without the prior concept of the said legal adviser even though a legal adviser lack the powers to suspend officers of the party hence such powers is vested on the ward chairman.
“It is obvious that, the Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso led faction of the NNPP are ready to return to the APC but does not want to join our party with Ganduje as the National Chairman. The Kwankwasiyya Movement had even wished Ganduje death before now and could do anything to ensure his removal as the National Chairman of our great Party.
“It may interest you to note that, Mr Kwankwaso and Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf alongside Buba Galadima went into alliance with some North Central APC elders to push for the removal of Dr Ganduje but the North Central APC elders led for a former Senate President, Sen. Ameh Ebute boldly passed a vote of confidence on the National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his working committee members based on his credible performance as the National Chairman of our Party.
“Kwankwaso and his co-travellers have now devised means of causing more dissaffection by trying to get the ward exco of Ganduje Ward of Kano State to suspend the National Chairman but couldn’t get any, so, they resulted to impersonating some of the Excos in order to mislead the general public. The 27 member Excos are intact and had since addressed the Press and disassociated themselves from the purported suspension which is now dead at arrival.
“In view of the above narrative, our democracy is in clear danger and this threat is coming from an emerging terrorist organisation known as the Kwankwasiyya Movement. It was obvious when one of the fanatic Kwankwasiyya members refused to removed his red cap as a mark of loyalty to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“Impersonation is a criminal offence punishable by law. We call on the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of State Security Service (SSS) to immediately arrest the impostors and prosecute them to serve as deterrent to others willing to orchestrate such devilish act.
“These are people who openly threatened the judiciary during the tribunal days, they have no regard for the rule of law or any constituted authority other than the NNPP led Kano State Government.
“If these impostors are not arrested and prosecuted immediately, in a short while, some members of the PDP or Labour Party may constitute themselves and suspend Mr. President from the APC.”
