A Federal high court sitting in Kano has ruled that the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission lacks the power to investigate former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje’s dollar bribery video case.
While delivering on the long-awaited controversial dollar video on Tuesday in Kano, the presiding judge, Justice Abdullahi Liman explained the offense falls under the federal law which the state commission lacks jurisdiction to entertain.
Justice Liman pointed out that the offence is a federal offence that can be prosecuted by the Attorney General of the Federation and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC not State Anti-graft Agency.
The Judge said the main Application bothered with the Protection of the fundamental human rights of the applicant and that of his family and political associates, es and his rights to acquired Properties, as well as the protection of his dignity.
Responding after the delivery of the Judgement, Counsel to the 1st Respondent, the State Public and Anti Corruption Commission, Barrister Usman Fari, said his client would file an appeal at the Appeal Court.
It could be recalled that the former Governor who is currently the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) has dragged the State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission to stop investigating him over the alleged dollar bribery case.
