The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Lawal Adamu Usman, has dismissed threats by the Kaduna Peace and Tranquillity Forum (KPTF) to initiate his recall for non performance.
The KPTF, had in a recent statement Usman for non performance since his election.
The group issued a 14-day ultimatum to the senator to give account of his stewardship, or his constituent would be mobilised to recall him.
Usman, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was elected to the senate in 2023.
Reacting to the threat in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna, Segun Olatunji, spokesperson to the senator called on the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and indeed Nigerias “not to be deceived by the gibberish being churned out by the KPTF as the allegations lacked any iota of truth.”
He said the group should not be taken seriously, maintaining that Usman has achieved a lot as a representative of the people.
“The puerile threat by KPTF during their recent press conference to mobilise for the recall of the Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman for alleged ‘failure to stand up and speak on development issues,’ if he fails after a 14-day ultimatum to give account of his stewardship, smacks of a dressed rehearsal for a light-hearted comedy of errors show”, the statement reads.
“The unconscionable and uninformed outbursts of the KPTF are a good testament to their crass ignorance about Senator Usman’s germaine contributions at the National Assembly
“KPTF needs some good tutoring and education to be purged of its unabashed ignorance.
“Their latest outburst is a diseased symptom of the bad and rotten politicking of their sponsors…
“Only the blind will deny the obvious and concrete facts that Senator Usman’s tenure, in the past one year, has been defined by a strong and unprecedented commitment to education, infrastructural development, economic empowerment and delivery of sundry dividends of democracy to his constituents and others.”
According to the statement, the senator had spent N150 million to empower no fewer than 300 youths in the senatorial district.
Olatunji added that the senator also offered scholarships to over 200 indigent students studying in various tertiary institutions.
