Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev had a confrontational weigh-in ahead of their world title fight on Saturday evening, with Joshua weighing in at 240.8lbs.
The world champion is around three pounds heavier than he was when he beat Andy Ruiz Jr to reclaim his WBA, IBF, IBO, and WBO heavyweight titles last December.
Pulev weighed in at 239.7lbs.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the weigh-in, which saw him square off with Pulev, Joshua said it was “a good weight” and added: “I feel good… I’ll train tonight, keep a good routine.”
It was a confrontational event, with Pulev getting in Joshua’s face as he stepped off the scales. “He’s come talking a lot of rubbish,” said Joshua. “I would have just clapped him in his jaw there and then, but I’ve got to do it tomorrow.”
As well as putting his titles on the line, Joshua is risking a colossal fight against Tyson Fury next year.
Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn told Telegraph Sport earlier this week that “it’s the Battle of Britain, the battle of the world, and I’m convinced it’ll happen if Joshua wins on Saturday.”
“A J is desperate for the fight, I believe Fury is desperate for the fight and the teams are desperate. There’s no reason why not.
“We should be in a position after this fight to say: ‘We’re all in agreement, here’s the date, here’s the contract.’ But he’s got to win on Saturday.”
