Joe Jonas, member of the Jonas Brothers band, has initiated divorce proceedings against actress Sophie Turner following their four-year marriage.
The singer submitted the divorce request at the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida on Tuesday.
Associated Press reports the filing stated, “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
Jonas has filed for joint custody of their two daughters, as indicated in the divorce papers. Additionally, Jonas anticipates that the prenuptial agreement the couple had in place will be upheld, as stated in the submission.
Their initial contact was through Instagram direct messages in 2016, and they finally met face-to-face in October of that same year. By December, they had committed to an exclusive relationship, and they publicly announced their engagement in October 2017.
Turner and Jonas tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019, immediately following the Billboard Music Awards that year. Subsequently, they held a second celebration a month later at Chateau de Tourreau in the southern region of France, surrounded by their close friends and family.
Jonas has dropped individual singles and popular tracks with his siblings Nick and Kevin Jonas. Additionally, the Jonas Brothers, as a collective unit, once featured prominently in their own Disney Channel show.
On the other hand, Turner hails from Northampton, England. She portrayed the character Sansa Stark throughout eight seasons of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and also took on the role of Jean Grey in the films “X-Men: Apocalypse” (2016) and “Dark Phoenix” (2019).
