Jamie Vardy’s Equaliser Ends Man. United Superb Run of Away Wins in Boxing Day Cracker

Manchester United’s remarkable run of away victories came to an end as they missed the chance to go second in the Premier League despite leading twice at Leicester on Boxing Day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had put together an extraordinary sequence of 14 successive wins on the road across all competitions and went ahead at the King Power Stadium through Marcus Rashford and later Bruno Fernandes, though the Foxes showed brilliant spirit in a pulsating festive encounter as levellers from Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy prevented them from being leapfrogged in the table by their opponents.

Solskjaer said after the game he was “disappointed that we don’t win – loads of big chances and we could have finished it off, but they’re a very dangerous side.

“One point is not the worst result but we’re disappointed we didn’t get three.”

On Lindelof’s injury: “He’s been struggling with his back for a while. We might have to do something.”

Vardy however believes it was “a point we thoroughly deserved. It’s all about being patient and being in the position to be on the end of the cross. I think we’ve played really well against a good team.”
