Israeli Airstrike Hits Gaza Hospital, Killing Four and Igniting Fires in Displaced Persons Camp

An Israeli airstrike targeted a hospital courtyard in the Gaza Strip early Monday, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals and igniting a fire that devastated a tent camp for war-displaced persons. Palestinian medical officials report that more than two dozen people suffered severe burns due to the incident.

The Israeli military stated that the strike was aimed at militants allegedly using civilian areas as cover, although it did not provide any supporting evidence. In recent months, the military has conducted multiple airstrikes on crowded shelters and tent camps, claiming that Hamas operatives are utilizing these locations for operational purposes.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah was already overwhelmed with casualties from a previous attack on a school-turned-shelter that resulted in at least 20 fatalities when an early morning airstrike struck the facility, igniting fires that spread to numerous tents. Following the initial strike, multiple secondary explosions were reported; however, it remains uncertain whether these were triggered by munitions or fuel tanks.
