At least 16 Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes in eastern Khan Younis on Monday, following new evacuation orders from Israel.
Israel issued these orders after claiming renewed attacks from the area, and adjusted the boundaries of a humanitarian zone in Al-Mawasi to protect civilians from combat zones.
Palestinian sources reported that 16 people were killed by Israeli tank shelling and airstrikes in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis.
Israel justified the evacuation orders by alleging Palestinian rocket attacks from these areas, though health institutions were not included in the orders.
Palestinians, the UN, and relief agencies have stated that no safe areas remain in Gaza.
Earlier in July, separate Israeli strikes in Al-Mawasi killed numerous Palestinians.
Israel claimed these strikes targeted armed militants and high-ranking Hamas officials, but Palestinian officials dismissed these claims as false justifications for the attacks.
